Welcome to a New Year, 2nd Graders!
Last year you learned to read music like professional musicians do! You learned to read the pitches sol, mi, and la on the staff and the rhythms ta the quarter note, ti-ti the eighth notes, and a quarter rest. You played various classroom instruments, sang songs, played games and performed folk dances. You also created some of your own music using the pitches and rhythms that you learned throughout the year. You explored symphonic instruments such as the trumpet, violin, and flute. You have become impressive musicians already. Your musical journey will take you to new places this year as we expand on what we know with more rhythms and pitches, new musical vocabulary and many new games, dances and songs. I can’t wait to see you again and begin making music!
