About Ms. Turner
This is my 14th year in McKinney ISD and my 16th year as an Elementary Music Teacher. I have been at McClure since we opened! I love music, dancing, being outdoors and spending time with my family. I play flute, piccolo, guitar, and a bit of piano. I am also really into technology. I dabble in video and sound and video editing.
I love to spend time with my family.

These are my kids –
Dean (7), Kenzie (11), and Silas (16).
I graduated in 2005 with Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA.
One of my favorite things about Northwestern was being a part of the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band. Here is a video of me with the 2001 Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band performing a Duke Ellington show. Talk about some teamwork!!
I have always had a passion for teaching, and I love working with kids. Teaching music is wonderful because I get to share the gift of music with my students!
I have a Kodály-based philosophy on music education and three levels of Kodály Certification.

I also use Orff-Schulwerk strategies and activities for incorporating instruments, movement, and improvisation. I also have three levels of Orff-Sculwerk Certification.

I am also the TMEA Region 25 Elementary Music Chair. I have responsibilities of communicating with other music teachers in our region about state and local information and events in Music Education as well as helping to organize workshops for Elementary Music Teachers.
