Rimsky-Korsakov

Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov

Rimsky-Korsakov was a Russian composer and one of the “Russian Five” along with Mussorgsky, Cui, Borodin and Balakirev. His parents forced him to take piano lessons when he was young, but Rimsky-Korsakov wanted to be a sailor. He joined the Russian Navy and continued his musical studies on the side and gradually grew to love music and dislike sailing! Rimsky-Korsakov is well known for his original pieces and for orchestrating pieces of other great composers like Mussorgsky.
