The Classical Era of Music

In the Classical Era of music, instrumental music became more popular. Composers were more specific regarding aspects like tempo, dynamics and articulations than during the Renaissance and Baroque Periods. Harmonies were lighter, changing chords less frequently and there was a great focus on form – with repetition and contrast becoming very important parts of formal music works.
The piano was invented toward the end of the Baroque period and beginning of the Classical Era. Throughout the classical era, the pianoforte as it was originally called was developed and changed inot the instrument we know today. Click here for more information about the history of the piano.
